New world record trophy taken by Side by Side Safaris client

We are proud to announce a new world record of the rare and much coveted Scimitar Horned Oryx antelope. The trophy was taken by Danish big game hunter, Peter Vagn-Jensen, on an exclusive family safari with Side by Side Safaris in February 2015.

The new world record is unique in more ways than one. Often it is the Oryx females that grow the longest horns while the male horns typically are thicker. The new world record horns, however, are both extremely long and unusually heavy.

A difficult-to-beat record:
Since the Oryx bull was shot in February 2015, the scull and horns have been through the compulsory drying period before the conclusive measuring and subsequent approval as a new record. The horns of the record trophy are almost an inch longer than the previous record. A new record that will almost certainly never be beaten.

Focus on top trophies:
Regardless of which species our clients are after, it is always of great importance to us that they bring home top trophies from their safaris with us. In that respect we are pleased to note that Side by Side Safaris is rated among the very best in South Africa when is comes to finding record class trophies for our clients. One of the reasons for this, we believe, is our ability of assessing trophies in the field, an ability that is a result, no doubt, of the experience gained from handling and measuring thousands of trophies through more than thirty years in the taxidermy business.
