Specialists in night hunting for Bushpig

Hunting Bushpig has become one of Side by Side Safaris' specialities. On two recent safaris, bagging a Bushpig trophy was high on the want list for both of the visiting hunters.

Bushpig hunting is so-called baited hunting. Various types of bait known to attract the pigs are placed where tracks and other signs indicate Bushpig activity. Several baiting sites were established well in advance of the arrival of the hunters. At two locations, images from the game cameras, that were put up to monitor the baiting sites, indicated regular visits of a group of pigs with at least one large boar among each of the groups. Bushpig is regarded by many hunters as one of the most difficult animals to hunt in the South African bush. The animals are extremely cautious and this, together with the fact that they are mostly hunted after dark, requires experience and detailed knowledge of where the animals move about at night. At Side By Side Safaris, we specialize in night hunting for Bushpig, and we have some of the best equipment available for this challenging type of hunting. Both of the visiting hunters were lucky to bag a very nice Bushpig trophy each.
