Combined safari and long range shooting

Long range target shooting becomes ever more popular among hunters and rifle shooters. In recent years, many shooters have found Side by Side Safaris' Klipplaat grounds to be the ideal venue for the sport. The Klipplaat grounds consist of very varied terrain with both open savannah and low rugged mountains – ideal for extreme long range shooting.

There are good reasons why long range target shooting has risen in popularity lately. Through the daily practice, the shooter develops his skills as he is constantly challenged by new extremes. The essence of the sport is to constantly improve one's ability to quickly fire at targets at ranges that most would consider way over the limit of most shooters.

Extreme ranges under safe conditions

At the Klipplaat grounds, hunters and long range shooters can practice their skills while pushing precision to the limit at extreme ranges. The grounds vary in altitude – from 300 to 1000 meters above sea level. It is possible to shoot safely at targets placed at distances from 0 to 1200 meters. At some locations, it is even possible to fire at targets placed at up to 2000 meters distance.

The mountainous terrain also offers the possibility to fire at targets from a near vertical position.

Safari package combined with long range shooting

Side by Side Safaris offers the unique possibility to combine a traditional plains game safari with long range rifle shooting according to the shooter's individual preferences. Combination safaris are often arranged for small groups where a few friends travel together in order to benefit from the mutual on-site exchange of experience while enjoying social togetherness with equal-minded friends.

Plains game safari and long range shooting package:

• 6 days with accommodation at 4-star safari lodge centrally located at the grounds

• 1 day long range shooting at targets placed at 500 - 600 - 800 and 1000 meters

• 4 days hunting, 2:1, inclusive of the following animals:

• 1 x Common Springbok (trophy)

• 1 x Common Blesbok (trophy)

• 1 x Southern Impala (trophy)

• 3 x Common Springbok (non trophy)

• Vervet Monkey (no bag limit)

• Optional possibility of longer ranges or more days of target shooting
