World class bird hunting
In addition to high class rifle safaris, South Africa also offers some of the finest bird hunting available anywhere; wild birds in their natural habitat, mind you. During March and April we have had several groups out on bird shoots, all with excellent results.
Thousands of geese
We offer superb goose hunting almost in our own backyard – i.e. within a driving distance of less than 20 kms. from our lodge. The geese migrate in huge numbers to feed on recently harvested maize fields mornings and evenings and very substantial bags are common. It is primarily Egyptian geese that are shot, but Spurwing geese, one of the larges goose species in the world, are also seen in large numbers.
Bloemfontein
Further to the north, in the area around the town Bloemfontein, some five hours' drive from our lodge, we also offer excellent bird hunting opportunities. Recently, we had a small group hunting up there a few days with fantastic results; very large bags of both geese and doves every day.
Bird hunting can easily be combined with a safari with the rifle. Best period is from early March through to the middle of April. We have already bookings for next season but there are still openings. Let us know your wishes and we will gladly put a proposal together for you.
