Mountain hunting for Bushbuck with Side by Side Safaris

Bushbuck can be found in many parts of Africa, where it has adapted to different types of habitats. In the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, in an area close to our own Klipplaat grounds, a small population of Cape Bushbuck can be found in a mountainous terrain with altitudes well over 2,000 meters. In this area we have recently conducted a successful hunt where the Danish professional hunter, Frank Jacobsen, managed to bag a superb old gold-medal trophy. The buck was shot at 300 meters distance with a perfect shoulder shot. Long ranges like that are not uncommon in this area where dense rainforest-like vegetation alternates with rocky clearings. Hunting in this kind of terrain is physically demanding and requires lots of patience – in return, chances for a real top class trophy are good.
