Golden Oryx

The Golden Oryx (Golden Gemsbok) is just a variation/mutation in colour from the regular Oryx (Gemsbok).

Golden Oryx is a uniquely adaptable animal. They live primarily in open ground, and can survive even in the harshest environments such as extreme desert areas. It originates from the Kalahari, and can survive without water for months – only consuming the liquid it absorbs through its food.

A female Golden Oryx tend to be slightly less in body-size, while the horns are slimmer and usually longer than males.

Golden Oryx Hunting

The Oryx is a strong antelope; hence it should be shot with a minimum calibre of .270. A 7mm or .300 Magnum is an even better choice.

By many the meat from an Oryx is considered to be the most delicious thing on the African continent.

Side By Side Safaris has a large nearby hunting concession with several Golden Oryx with a trophy quality of the highest possible standard.
